When it comes to planning a wedding, there are few things more important than the venue. Some couples have a dream location in mind long before they even get engaged. If you haven’t got a clue where you want to get married, don’t panic. Venue viewing is one of the most exciting parts of the entire planning process. If you’re looking forward to tying the knot, here are some tips to help you find the perfect venue.

Work out a budget

If you search online for wedding venues, you’ll find everything from remote country pubs to grand country estates. It’s a good idea to have a rough budget in mind so that you know which venues are affordable. There’s no point in looking at anything, which is way over budget. You can find some budgeting tips at http://www.weddingideasmag.com/category/budget-weddings/.

Write a guest list

Your party size may determine the kind of venue you’re looking for. If you have a very large party, you may find that this rules out a lot of options. Write down a guest list and get an idea of numbers. This will help you to narrow down your search.

Do some research and arrange viewings

You may already think you know where you want to get married, but it’s always worth having a look around and doing some research. There may be places around that you’ve never heard of before. Search online and write down a list of options. Many venues have their own website. You can visit sites like www.clevedonhall.co.uk for ideas. Call and arrange some viewings and then draw up a shortlist. Even if you think you know what style of venue you want, it’s best to keep your options open at the beginning. You may be surprised at what you find most appealing.

Consider your options

When you’ve had a look around some different venues, take a little time to compare them and think about the pros and cons. There’s no need to rush into making a decision. Think about the prices, the capacity and the scope to make your day unique. Ask as many questions as you like. Can you bring in your own caterer? Is there a set package price? Are you able to hire the whole venue? Is the price different on a weekday? Can you choose you own entertainment or put up your own decorations? It’s worth taking everything into consideration before you make a final decision. You may need to use your head but go with your heart. Choose the venue that gives you butterflies when you think about it. Go for the option that enables you to enjoy the day you’ve dreamed of for years. Take other people’s opinions on board, but remember that the decision should be yours.

Looking for a wedding venue is incredibly exciting, but it can also be daunting. You may find that you fall in love with somewhere instantly. You may be left with two contenders. Or it may take you some time to locate the perfect place. Don’t panic if there’s no instant attraction at the first few visits. You’ll soon find somewhere that ticks all the boxes.
